Serenity, 1961 Avion Spring/ Summer theme 2021

This has been my latest project. A few more final touches for the trailer will be added, but it is mostly finished!  

Introducing my Pineapple Party!!  With flamingo accents! This theme started with the panels that were used for the comforter cover. I found it a while back when visiting my father in Redmond Washington, before he passed away. Any how my son Tyrus loves flamingos. So when I saw the panel I had to get it for him and his then girlfriend Kayla to make them a plush backed quilt. I loved it and later decided that i wanted one too. So I ordered 3 more panels (one set was used for another plush backed quilt for my best friend Jair)  and discovered the red fabric that was part of the fabric series. I was perfect for my Shasta trailer for curtains!  Fast forward to now! I never got around to making this theme for the Shasta, however, it has the colors for my Avion as well! Gold and turquoise. So it was perfect for a summer them for Serenity!! so here are the details! 

First: the Flamingo/Pineapple panel that started it all! Note* I decided since Art was going to be camping with me to focus more on the  Pineapple aspect and less on the Flamingos, although did add a few here and there! 

The fabulous curtain fabric!! So pretty and fun!

So now that we had the theme chosen along with colors, the real fun began. Curtains made it was time to shop and find the details. I did my best to find some vintage items to stay with the vintage feel of the trailer, so a mix of new and old the look was created!

how fortunate! A Flamingo with a PINEAPPLE! I believe it was from Hobby Lobby!

Hobby Lobby is always an amazing source for items. I try to make sure it is when they are on sale,or it can get too expensive. This umbrella was a "must have" too cute! 

I found this cute rug for a good price on Amazon (another go to place to find specific items) 

The finished table setting, but lets look at the details first!

I used the turquoise bowls from the vintage melamine set from fall. Found these fabulous vintage mid century enameled cups, new napkins, plates , placemats and elevated platter from Hobby Lobby

A couple of pineapple lanterns found at Goodwill. I added the battery powered candle inside. I believe these were originally tiki lanterns that got separated from their bases. I saw some on Amazon after i got these. I think they work fabulously as table decorations!

Here I reused the gold teapot, had the flamingo in the car salt and pepper shakers, to the side a copper pineapple drink mug from Amazon, vintage napkin holder found on Etsy, with new napkins from the Pioneer Woman collection at Wallie world!

Another piece of that fabulous md century enamel ware. Briard is the designer. I keep discovering more pieces. I found an amazing 3 gallon coffee pot, it was not that expensive, so I had to add it to the collection. I have not only been decorating, but am also getting the trailer ready for actual camping. I discovered the wall backsplash is able to hold magnets, so I added some magnetic spice containers and a peel and stick magnetic knife holder! I will add the spices closer to camping  seasin! 

Next came the pillows! I had the collection of pillows from Tyrus and Kayla when the parted ways. Tyrus didn't want to do the flamingo theme any more, so I kindly took in all the decor! LOL I found the amazing gold pillows at Hobby Lobby! so vintage looking! Great addition and will probably remain in the trailer with future themes! 

And to bring the focus back to pineapples. I made these wonderful Pineapple pillows with some fun fabrics and fabrics from the curtain and comforter cover!

Last but not least, the comforter. The final touch to bring the whole theme together! It was a really fun project and added so much to the theme when I put it on the comforter!! So happy with my bright and fun theme for this year! Here it is as the finished top! Just before I added the backing and made into a cover!

Here you see the 3 gallon Braird Enamel pot from a newlydiscovered antique store downtown Jackson, Michigan! Also, a cute ceramic pineapple, the other lantern and a vintage hair dryer, all found at Goodwill!

The best part of all of this is sharing. My grandchildren seem to want to go out to the trailer every time they visit. Ayla was enjoying playing "tea party" after asking me once again to go out and see the trailer! Micah was just doing his own thing! LOL 

next post will be an update on My Funny Valentine. She is getting a tropical tiki theme! One I started a few years ago and am now getting around to finishing...a preview....the curtains I made 4 years ago...  So many fun photos with this theme and lots of projects!! Owls every where! I quick Owl Halloween decor!

I brought my new Avion home shortly before my last camping trip in October. As always, wanted to add my touches to her decor as soon as I could. Even though the original decor was lovely, it simply wasn't me. I needed some stronger colors and lots of fun additions. Being that I only had a few (3-4) weeks or so, I quickly found things that I had around the studio with some quick trips to Goodwill and a few finds from Etsy. First and foremost, new curtains. I always start a new theme with curtain fabric.  I searched for days to find the perfect retro fabric, got some samples and still never found something I LOVED.  But, I had this cool owl fabric that I had purchased for a possible dress. It had the right turquoise and accent colors. Now that I decided to use that as my start, I knew that there wasn't enough for a complete set of curtains, I brought the fabric with me to the fabric store and found a base fabric to use as the curtains and then use the owls as a border! Voila! Fast fix. So now i had the start of my theme! 

so for the tie backs, I simply found some fabric on hand that was a nice accent. To carry on the color theme of the trailer, the gold was a natural choice! Even though, I probably would not have chosen gold as a wall choice, I truly love it and find the challenge of creating a color scheme with what i have rather fun!

Next came the decorating! A few quick trips to Goodwill found some fun accents! Oh another first for decorating a trailer is finding dishes that match. I absolutely LOVE vintage melamine aka melmac and in my search found this pattern on Etsy. It was perfect! It has all the colors and I loved the art on it! However,  It seemed really familiar. After a short dig through tubs in my attic, I discovered that I actually had a set!! wwoohoooo! I love those synchronicities 

I found a couple of leaf placemats and the gold teapot at Goodwill! What fun!  I had various owls and owl pillows in the home stash!  My theme was coming together! 

A Halloween owl and some new pillows from JoAnn Fabric and the theme was building. A silver pumpkin from Goodwill, more owls from the stash. A brown Owl mug from my kitchen, a mate in turquoise found at Goodwill, It was getting really cute in there! 

Two new pillows in the color scheme with a red one from my home stash. Another owl pillow I had from my front porch owl theme....so many cute and fun accents! 

My one owl that I searched for. I was looking for a vintage 70's macramé owl. Our Halloween gathering is always a "Hippy Halloween" so my nod for that was finding a few 70's items. Including this owl! I was so fortunate when I found this at a local antique store and then the addition of a couple of lava lamps and some incense, i had a fun 70's theme going on!

The previous owners left me this amazing vintage radio. Sadly, it doesn't work. And Hedwig from my Harry Potter theme, got a place of honor in the corner!

Another important aspect of decorating a trailer, is the bed. Since I was on a time constraint, making a new cover for the comforter was impossible. So I dug out the gray cover from my previous Halloween theme for the Shasta and the fluffy gray blanked, added the owl pillows from my porch theme and the new ones i purchased (those were a bit extravagant, but fit the theme so nicely, I just could not resist)

so there is the inside. Next, I gathered some fun Halloween items from the home stash and had fun decorating the outside for our rally!! Dream catcher and floor pillow were from the Gypsy Gala Party I created for my mom for her 80th birthday! The rest were things from my home stash in the Halloween tubs! 

Flamingo skeletons were a fun project! Black spray paint and white acrylics make for a quick Halloween update for the standard pink Flamingos!  LOL 

Next post, my Pineapple and Flamingo theme, I was going to make it for the Shasta, but since I still have not found that "perfect" fabric for a default decorating theme for Serenity, I used the fabric set for the Avion instead! It is so fun and happy! I am actually kind of glad I haven't quite found the "right" fabric so far! 

Trailer Rally and Vintage Market!

Hey guys, long time no post, yet again! But thought I would post an update!  I went to a Vintage Market and Trailer Rally a few weeks ago and thought i would share some of the photos.  I added a new theme to my trailer for this year with pink and red, with a Red Riding Hood theme.  The curtains were pink with Red Riding Hood tumbled as the design by my now favorite designer Stacie Lest Hsu!  I hand appliqued the comforter cover using the pattern and templates from Lori Holt's quilt along that she did last year from her blog: Bee in My Bonnet! Using many fun colors for a bright and cheery quilt to go along with the theme! 

I created some new applique designs for the pillows to enhance my Red Riding Hood them, modeling the characters a bit from the actual fabric to coordinate well. I made the doll kit that came with the fabric line and found a wolf in my toy stash! 

In the first photo, you can see my newly built dinette. I had my builder take out the original gaucho bench and using the original wood, recreate it into a dinette for two. He made a new little table, with red boomerang laminate (we decided to redo all the laminate at this time as well to all red rather than the original gray!)  Then I made new cushions to size. I created the cushions so they can still all lay down on top of the collapsible unit and make into a small bed! Now i can leave my big bed made up at all times and still have a place to sit and have coffee or a snack! 

My vintage "Toast it with Roses" sign, it is reversible and i still love it as a fun accent and it camouflages the TV behind it.  My Middie Blythe dressed as Red Riding Hood and her vintage Wolf help continue the theme!

The new red laminate added such a beautiful touch and made it so colorful!

Here is the entire exterior!  I had such a great time with my decorating this year! I was so excited when I was told I won first place for the "people's choice favorite trailer" award! The prize was a bag full of hand made goodies from various restaurants around Marshall. So many yummy things~
