Trailer Rally and Vintage Market!

Hey guys, long time no post, yet again! But thought I would post an update!  I went to a Vintage Market and Trailer Rally a few weeks ago and thought i would share some of the photos.  I added a new theme to my trailer for this year with pink and red, with a Red Riding Hood theme.  The curtains were pink with Red Riding Hood tumbled as the design by my now favorite designer Stacie Lest Hsu!  I hand appliqued the comforter cover using the pattern and templates from Lori Holt's quilt along that she did last year from her blog: Bee in My Bonnet! Using many fun colors for a bright and cheery quilt to go along with the theme!

I created some new applique designs for the pillows to enhance my Red Riding Hood them, modeling the characters a bit from the actual fabric to coordinate well. I made the doll kit that came with the fabric line and found a wolf in my toy stash!

In the first photo, you can see my newly built dinette. I had my builder take out the original gaucho bench and using the original wood, recreate it into a dinette for two. He made a new little table, with red boomerang laminate (we decided to redo all the laminate at this time as well to all red rather than the original gray!)  Then I made new cushions to size. I created the cushions so they can still all lay down on top of the collapsible unit and make into a small bed! Now i can leave my big bed made up at all times and still have a place to sit and have coffee or a snack!

My vintage "Toast it with Roses" sign, it is reversible and i still love it as a fun accent and it camouflages the TV behind it.  My Middie Blythe dressed as Red Riding Hood and her vintage Wolf help continue the theme!

The new red laminate added such a beautiful touch and made it so colorful!

Found this fabulous vintage looking fan at Lowe's.  Red Riding Hood salt and pepper shakers for the theme

Here you see a Red Riding Hood tea pot to continue the theme, along with my new retro looking coffee pot and toaster!

Now to the exterior!
Welcome to Oma's Trailer, Sign i made the morning of the rally! Haha. Had this one in my head for a year!
Welcome table, had the water jug filled, some grateful guests enjoyed the lemon water I filled this with!

Mr Wolf guarding the door!

My fall display by the tongue fence! I had so much fun creating this!  I had found a garden flag imprinted with a vintage Red Riding Hood flag!

My table display with hand made fabric roses and vintage melamine/melmac dishes!

Here is the entire exterior!  I had such a great time with my decorating this year! I was so excited when I was told I won first place for the "people's choice favorite trailer" award! The prize was a bag full of hand made goodies from various restaurants around Marshall. So many yummy things~

Well there ya go, a an update on one of my adventures!! Till next time, have a beautiful day!

Quilt fun!

Before i show you the new look for my trailer..i am skipping ahead to the quilt top that i made for the original look!  I had started it last year and never got around to working on it. Until my UFO finishing stint this past couple of months!

Here were the humble beginnings way back on February 1st of last year! I had started it while i was gathering things for my trailer...but life brought in the usual distractions and i never got back around to it...so there it sat..pieces cut and these beginnings in a box. When i started on it again a few weeks ago there were a couple more rounds than this..but it was a week long project of working on it pretty non stop....I love the results though!

In the middle of working on the quilt though, my Bernina died. SO freaking out...I was able to purchase a little cheap Singer... $129!!!  I have to say it has been holding it's own. 3 weeks later i am still with out my Bernina and i am still working with this little gem. I will never put these babies down again....it saved my sanity!

Here i have the red/pink rounds finished and am getting ready to move on to the cream and white background pieces...round and round and round we went!

autditioning the blocks with the borders..almost there!

here was the lay out, some of the blocks were pink and some were red..so i wanted to make sure they were evenly dispersed!

and finished!  I made it into a comforter cover for a feather comforter i found at Goodwill for $12! It was brand new and looked like it had never been used! I sleep under my feather bed every night..so i was excited to have one for my trailer!

Another fun repurpose/saved object!  I have had this little white cart for so many years i can't even remember when and where i got it....

i have been slowly cleaning and organizing my studio in between projects...and i organized all of the furniture and decorating items i was using this for while i was doing doll rooms. It was never meant to be a permanent spot to store things...haha. SO with a couple of cans of spray paint and masking tape i was able to give it a bit of a facelift. I tightened up all the screws to make it more stable..and voila!  A cute cart to take camping!

Big News!!!  I got a new tow vehicle. My lease was up on my Flex so i went looking! After seeing the enormous price on Expeditions..i thought i would test drive a truck. Never in my years did i think i was going to end up with a pick up truck...but when they showed me the console was actually a 6th seat i was sold!  I LOVE it!  Here in this picture was the first time i ever "broke camp" and got her hooked up to my vehicle 100% ALL BY MYSELF!!  I had to take her to my dealer for some warranty work and a recall on her axle. I love love love how nicely my truck tows her!  felt so much more secure!  She unfortunately is currently still up there....i miss her.

another project i accomplished this winter! Flower boxes. I made 3 of them. When i get my trailer back i am going to figure out the final installation.I am thinking of finding some sort of doohicky that i can add to a couple of the window frame screws and then clip these on with badge clips.  That way they can be easily removed and stored for bad weather and rain!

Well still no camping..but plenty of fun with My Funny Valentine

i left you with a minor introduction of my new adventure....well the excitement is still there...i am still enamored with my new toy and also have made so many new friends on Facebook groups  on the Shasta Re-issue club and various other trailer groups...so fun!

Well i was able to get my trailer home safely, by myself...no wait Turner went with me and is a tremendous help with set up and unhitching...

here she is hooked up and ready to come home:
then of course the fun began....curtain fabric choosing....adding all sorts of decorations and accessories..and i even have spent the night out there and frequently go out on weekends to watch movies with some wine...Every Tuesday my grandson Micah requests watching a movie out there as well...even though i have not taken her out of the drive yet..i am having loads of fun!
here...lots of pictures....the beginnings...adding the needed items..choosing fabrics for curtains...

then it got serious...the curtains were made...more items were purchased..decorating got into full swing...

i had kept the bed made for the longest time..but wanted to try out a table setting. It got to stay because i found out that if i turned the TV around and made the gaucho in the back into a small bed.. I am able to watch my movies back there....so fun.. and cozy!

New Year...some new adventures..

I am the new owner of a camping trailer!!

i am so excited about all of this...My new girl coming is the Red Shasta Airflyte and her name is My Funny Valentine...so i figure i have a small window to collect Valentine themed things...She originally was going to have a rose theme...so i can incorporate both...funny story on how this all transpired:...yeah grab your cup of coffee and humor me..i have to tell you the story...It all Started several years ago when my Friend Beth Bricker bought her trailer and posted it on our art group...then Sue her best friend...also my friend got her pink and white Cracklin Rose...i followed them both...watching...slightly envious..but totally intrigued..so each year a few times i catch a glimpse of a trailer here and there on Pinterest or some where....and i get the itch again.  This time it was bad enough i started looking on Craigslist...and then my favorite..ebay...and there she was..the second time I looked...the darling NEW Shasta Airflyte..first i saw her in pink...then scrolling down..in RED!!! i LOVE RED!!!  I noticed that it was from a dealer here in Michigan...in Grand Rapids..only an hour drive for me....I sent the auction to my husband..he never goes on ebay...just to test the waters...set the stage...you know...get him used to the idea...

so next day...i mentioned something to him....his response...oh yeah..well if we did get one we probably should get a new one with all the bells and whistles..."Honey....this was  a new one!"...oh cool he says..end of this conversation...well for the moment....*side note:..my husband's idea of "roughing it" is a hotel with no room service*

one more day later...i say..'well i could at least make a doll sized one for My Blythe dolls'...discussed that and details..he loves details, had some great ideas.... Later that day...we have a date...you know....sex date while the kids were at school....so relaxed the rest of the evening....well...so was he...Some how i got back on the trailer thing...he were giggling about how we like to buy the things we want...instead of things we should do...like new siding on our house...it is still good but needs to be replaced some time in the next few years....He goes..yeah like my new projector...your trailer!  "what?..i can get a trailer??."  Yeah sure..if you can get it in your name, your credit....i don't care!!!  Inside i was jumping up and down with joy.

So that very next morning...on Tuesday last week i made the phone call to the RV dealer...and yup they had one in the show room and i was welcome to come look.  I have my grandson on Tuesdays..so i couldn't go right away..but Wednesday i took the drive up..all by myself. Never said a word to any one....and sure enough it was absolutely adorable...and i asked him what it would take..I had the exact amount of down payment needed....my credit was excellent and i was pretty much approved on the spot.  I honestly did just go to look..it all happened so fast...  I signed the paper...found out that it was already in stock..yippeee!! no waiting...and so i set up the date for me to come and learn how to use her and pick her up(Tuesday this week...weather permitting)

so that afternoon i texted Art about how it all transpired....sent him a picture....

all i get back is:
"really"
oh shit...he is mad???!!...or what??..so i babble on about how excited i am..how much Turner wants to go camping...all the great things about it..etc...."honey don't you remember?.you said I could"

he was at work..so his answers were short...one though came back..right after i said it too..."Um was it one of those *after sex conversations*?"....hahahaha...um yes!

So i am a nervous wreck for a few hours until he gets home....He comes in...i ask.."do you really not remember our conversation?..where you said i could?"

Vaguely..honey...i am NOT mad...i am happy for you..i hope you enjoy it....

PHEW!!! thank god he wasn't mad....

So a while later....he wanders into the front room that is below my open second floor office and studio...
"honey?...can we call this your Valentine's present, it is red after all?"

i say..."well sure...since you never get me a gift any way...it can be for the next 15 years!"...lol....

"but i get you roses every year!!!"

"yes you do...and i love them!!"

So the thought occurred to me..since i was planning a red checkered and rose theme already, that 'Valentine' would be the best name for her...so appropriate...but when a friend suggested 'My Funny Valentine' could be my theme song...I had to change it to that...since it was a pretty funny story

Moral of this long story...give hubby great sex...and time requests afterward, during the lovely afterglow...you can pretty much get anything....hhmmm what do i want next?...hahaha

so to keep on sharing my newest grand adventure......i have already been collecting items for her.and since there is only two more weeks for Valentine's themed things..i hurried up...I have been visiting the sections at my favorite stores....might need to hit the thrift shops too...while they still have Valentine themed items...
so far...this is what has come in the mail..and what i have bought so far.... I hope you enjoyed my story..i still am giggling about the whole thing...I have to make our first trip perfect..since Art has never gone camping..and considers it way to primitive for him..and beyond roughing it..lol
