the Gnome theme went wild...i had so much fun! Notice the gnome hats on the flamingos..a boy with beard and girl with braids...lol

Gnome away from Home

So of course Christmas has a way of inspiring things! When Hobby Lobby starts bringing out Christmas in August, or was it July? Being the lover of all things Christmas, I always have to sneak a peak!  I had plans for my trailer, to do a decorating scheme with each of the trailer colors. I am only allowed to have ONE trailer, hubby has made sure to tell me that ever since I flippantly made a comment about wishing I could have one in each color...Red, Butternut, Seafoam and the coveted custom pink! hahahahaha! I never really intended one of each, simply a pipe dream. However, having decorations in each of the colors is definitely doable!

So first new scheme: Turquoise and Red, inspired by the darling Christmas decorations I found way back when at Hobby Lobby! It started with this amazing Riley Blake fabric, the paisleys were so darn cute.

and the said Christmas decorations.  With the finished curtains here.
Outside got a bit of cheer as well!

I just love this wreath. This was what caught my eye first!  and it was downhill from there!

tiny tree....in pretty colors!

Then after the holidays I noticed that this guy that was sitting by my piano, matched the color scheme and I was planning on making a comforter cover for my feather comforter I had found at Goodwill!  So the Gnome theme was born!  Aren't those salt and pepper shakers so cute? A Trailer friend of mine, Tammy sent me those when she saw my theme. I just adore them!

So I began my projects! I first made the comforter cover, the colors just make my wee heart sing!!

I got the cover, some pillow cases and two of the pillows covered. I want to keep an element of the Hearts and love in each of the new designs.

a nice overview of the bed and curtains...

Finally was able to get around to the last 3 pillow covers. After much research I determined that "gnome pillows" was not something I could buy..so I drafted my own. Found a bunch of male and female images and drew from my favorites!! You can find my pattern for them here!

Here I have cut out the fabric elements and have them ready for applique!

a close up of the mushroom ready to go...

Finished. I used a simple fusible webbing with raw edges applique technique, using a buttonhole stitch to secure the edges, Fun and fast!

All of it together...It is so cheerful and bright in there now~

I miss my girl...towed her away....hoping I get her back this week some time!

So of course I haven't stopped with this theme....I have two more in the works already! hehe

I am hosting a camping Luau this summer!

So of course I am going to need to decorate accordingly! I plan on reusing a bunch of the decorations from the Christmas Luau from a year and a half ago...what?...yeah I skipped over a bunch of fun life events...maybe I can recap at some time....Any how...evidence is already creeping into my studio..

I have curtain fabric laying around.  This is what I plan on doing:
and I have a tropical straw umbrella in my studio. I found it really cheap for $19.99 on Amazon....I love it. I am going to use the bar from the patio and decorate that as a Tiki Bar with this umbrella at my campsite....so the fun continues..

I also have my Red Riding Hood in Pink and Red started.  More on that, next time.....I joined a quilt along and have my quilt started for that...hoping to get the curtains cut out this week as well...but that will probably be the Fall theme...and I will keep the gnomes and tropical in for now..

Well until next time....love to all!

Quilt fun!

Before i show you the new look for my trailer..i am skipping ahead to the quilt top that i made for the original look!  I had started it last year and never got around to working on it. Until my UFO finishing stint this past couple of months!

Here were the humble beginnings way back on February 1st of last year! I had started it while i was gathering things for my trailer...but life brought in the usual distractions and i never got back around to it...so there it sat..pieces cut and these beginnings in a box. When i started on it again a few weeks ago there were a couple more rounds than this..but it was a week long project of working on it pretty non stop....I love the results though!

In the middle of working on the quilt though, my Bernina died. SO freaking out...I was able to purchase a little cheap Singer... $129!!!  I have to say it has been holding it's own. 3 weeks later i am still with out my Bernina and i am still working with this little gem. I will never put these babies down again....it saved my sanity!

Here i have the red/pink rounds finished and am getting ready to move on to the cream and white background pieces...round and round and round we went!

autditioning the blocks with the borders..almost there!

here was the lay out, some of the blocks were pink and some were red..so i wanted to make sure they were evenly dispersed!

and finished!  I made it into a comforter cover for a feather comforter i found at Goodwill for $12! It was brand new and looked like it had never been used! I sleep under my feather bed every night..so i was excited to have one for my trailer!

Another fun repurpose/saved object!  I have had this little white cart for so many years i can't even remember when and where i got it....

i have been slowly cleaning and organizing my studio in between projects...and i organized all of the furniture and decorating items i was using this for while i was doing doll rooms. It was never meant to be a permanent spot to store things...haha. SO with a couple of cans of spray paint and masking tape i was able to give it a bit of a facelift. I tightened up all the screws to make it more stable..and voila!  A cute cart to take camping!

Big News!!!  I got a new tow vehicle. My lease was up on my Flex so i went looking! After seeing the enormous price on Expeditions..i thought i would test drive a truck. Never in my years did i think i was going to end up with a pick up truck...but when they showed me the console was actually a 6th seat i was sold!  I LOVE it!  Here in this picture was the first time i ever "broke camp" and got her hooked up to my vehicle 100% ALL BY MYSELF!!  I had to take her to my dealer for some warranty work and a recall on her axle. I love love love how nicely my truck tows her!  felt so much more secure!  She unfortunately is currently still up there....i miss her.

another project i accomplished this winter! Flower boxes. I made 3 of them. When i get my trailer back i am going to figure out the final installation.I am thinking of finding some sort of doohicky that i can add to a couple of the window frame screws and then clip these on with badge clips.  That way they can be easily removed and stored for bad weather and rain!

where do i begin...hhm trailer updates..lots of pictures....

Honestly i would love to get back into blogging...but i keep forgetting about this poor thing. Now i don't even remember how to add widgets and stuff or change the look...one step at a time....first...a new post.  Last you heard i had gotten my new trailer...My Funny Valentine...i still love her to pieces.  I have a fan page on Facebook if you are interested in seeing or following..lots of pictures and the first place i update with new things! https://www.facebook.com/myfunnyvalentinerv/

but lets look in my file on my computer and see what we have there...
here is her back end...starting to collect travel stickers...and groups and clubs and interests. I can remember as a kid seeing these on old trailers and found it fascinating!...

Here are some photos of the initial decorating! I had so much fun with this theme....but hold on..this is only her first...but lets get this post done first..then i will update with her second look....and i hate to admit..her third and fourth look are already in progress...with more after that even..hahaha

Here she is getting her polka dots! I used my Cricut cutter and the white vinyl you can get for this at the craft stores. Took about $40 to do..and they have held up fabulous so far! I figured as cheap as it was..it wouldn't take much to replace any when needed!

I love love restoring items. I had saved and saved babysitting and sewing money for this table set. One of my pride and joys. It originally was oak. I had gotten it from the Turkey Farm way back when i was young with the older kids and with my ex..we didn't have much.  Unfortunately when we remodelled our kitchen here in our big house it was set outside..no where else to put it at the time..and the rain ruined it. So the frames got stuck into the basement for 15+ years.  I thought it would be perfect to go with my trailer with a face lift. I searched high and low for the table top and to no avail the correct size for the seats. So I ended up buying only the top from a seller on Etsy (unfinished pine) and then cut out rough circles and then added fabric covered with clear vinyl for the seats. I am so happy with how it turned out!

Here she is with her polka dots...so cute ...isn;t she?...

So last summer we actually went on a couple of camping adventures! I found this cute family owned campground called Eby Pines in Bristol Indiana. It is near Shipshewana and some other great places...oh and the factory where she was made!  Here we are back from our maiden voyage..we had such a great time!  My camping assistant Turner.....makes life so much easier..we have the set up and tear down down pat now!  Jon is some times reluctant.but he seems to enjoy it. And Maddie...Turner's girlfriend at the time...they have broken up since..ah young love....

here we go...first journey ....so nervous and excited at the same time!

of course i had to have the appropriate camping pajamas.....lol

my view...i was right across from the pond! At night they have a lit fountain that goes until 11pm or so...so relaxing and beautiful!

here is our set up....It is so funny...every time i set up i had a gazillion people stop and ask about here...i would have to ask them to come back after i was done and i would be more than happy to show them. I also tried to keep the trailer neat and clean..since i gave so many tours to strangers..lol!

getting darker...so pretty with the lights!

here you can see it with the lights! I am so excited about going again this year..

of course i found heart lights! haha. I decided though that these battery operated ones are a pain....so i just pulled the hearts of and plan on putting them all on a twinkle light strand of 50 lights instead!

One last part to this post..but i promise there is more....it was a busy year...and definitely more coming in the future...and quilts! I have gotten back into making quilts....yay!

So here you see a yucky rug..old,dirty and stained. I had it on the front porch and the boys did the cinnamon challenge....if you google that...promise me you won't do it. I am surprised no one choked to death. But if you ever wondered if cinnamon stains?...yup...it does..  Any how it was destined for the trash..but WAIT!! it is red...sooo i came up with this idea to paint it with roses to cover up the stain. I figure it was going to be trashed....and it can get dirty camping and no big loss. So here you see in stages how it got a facelift. It has not been used yet. I have been working on projects here and there all winter for the trailer...can't wait to use them all!

here i did the basic layout..but then left it for a few months. But after Christmas i always seem to get this urge to finish projects.and seriously have done tons..yay!

I decided painting on the floor was way to hard on my back. so i had Tyrus bring up my two 8ft tables to my doll room so i could finish this. It actually sat here for another month..it was the desire to start working out in this room again that finally got me going to finish it...here I started to add more of the stems and leaves. Once i got back into it..it only took a couple of days to finish!

more details being added...

the next day....black paint pen outlines..and voila..finished!

well i am going to stop here! I hope you enjoyed my tour and projects!  See ya soon!
